Peace

The lawn is carpeted with yellow fronds—the changing season is in full swing, reminding us of our planet’s ebbs and flows.

Yesterday, a student in my grandson’s high school was killed when a speeding driver crashed into a car of teenage boys leaving school. A school bus driver performed CPR, but the boy died in his arms. Life is all so fragile. Last night, sleep was nonexistent, as I thought, “That could have been my beloved grandchild.”

On the cul-de-sac directly across from my house, more renovation is again taking place; it’s noise grating on an early morning.

Last night, children were “trick or treating.” Handfuls of candy were given out. Ironically or not, Halloween was originally a religious celebration acknowledging the summer’s end of harvest. Bonfires and costumes warded off ghosts. Just like Christmas, commercialism is, too, in this holiday.

Peace is so rare for many on our broken planet, where hate and violence are such regular occurrences that we simply move on.

Today, would you join me in awarenesses: having a bed to sleep on, food that’s not pulled out of a dumpster, being a female who has the right to vote, not being afraid of being abused or thrown away,
being able to hug your children and grandchildren, and, yes, seeing nature that many could never imagine.

The lawn is still carpeted with yellow fronds despite life’s sorrows and the changing season is still in full swing, reminding us of our planet’s ebbs and flows.

May you be blessed.
May your family be whole.
May today bring you peace.
May you recognize the fragility of every single moment.

With Love,
Kay

  1. I am all too aware as “your awareness” has transformed my life. So has the myriad of life events we’ve both experienced…knowing all too well tomorrow is not a promise. Love today…. ❤️ Nancy
