Two Short Poems on Hope & Love

For those who feel despair and those who offer hope;  for those who are scared and those who show love, and for those who are lost and those who guide the way, these poems are for you.

FINDING HOPE

worlds collide
the past and the present slamming into each other—
painfully, without regard for the damage they create

sometimes in that world collision
it feels like the present will never give up the past

hearts break violently
like the explosion of a bomb—
cataclysmically, as if atoms are splitting apart

sometimes in that heart-brokenness
not even one day of hope seems possible

worlds seek peace
the weak and the strong joining together—
slowly issuing the invitation for unity

sometimes in that quest for peacefulness
a new reality is formed

hearts heal
as pain slowly lets go of the need to control the human spirit—
gently, like a stream flowing into a river

sometimes in that healing
hopefulness for a new life filled with love is born

SAVED

i am wilting right in front of you
a blossom broken from my stem
lying on the hot pavement

i am pleading, don’t hurry past me
oh no, please don’t leave me here
there’s so much life left in me

i am dying right in front of you
no one sees me on this pavement
trying not to be stepped on

i am aware of someone near me
she is slowly coming closer
she lifts me off the pavement

i am held gently in her small hand
“mommy, mommy look a flower!
for you mommy; i love you!”

i am put into the mommy’s hand
she kneels down and hugs the girl
“i love you, so very much, my dear child”

i am being put in water now
they sit together and watch me
i have been rescued by love
