“What Is Love?”
a t-shirt that proclaims, “super grandpa”, that’s love
a note that shares the belief in another’s value, that’s love
a perfect apple, left on the kitchen counter on a teacher’s first day of class, that can be lovea blanket made for a little girl (and one for her tiny doll), that’s love
a trembling hand being held, that’s love
a bag of black licorice, that can be lovea hand, touching a shoulder heaving with sobs of sadness, that’s love
a leather journal given to a teenager to write her special thoughts in, that’s love
a stain gone from a special shirt, that can be lovea final toast of Baileys with a woman in hospice, that’s love
a notebook, handmade and inscribed with heartfelt words, that’s love
a moment of eye contact especially for someone who feels alone, that can be lovea dandelion offered by the hand of a little boy, that’s love
a green, old, over-washed “Mr. Rogers” sweater, that’s love
a dog wagging his tail when he sees you, that can be loveand, “I love you” “I love you too” “I love you more” “I love you the most”, shared between a boy and his grandmother, that’s love
Love…unpredictable, fragile, special, moving, sometimes messy and always life-changing,
is ours to share.
We simply need to open the door.Let me know what is love to you. I’d love to hear from you.

Love can be unrequited, one-sided sometimes. Still, it’s love.

So true, Dan. I love that even in unrequited love, our spirit experiences what it feels like to want to be connected to another being. Thank you.
